2017 Chief Academy
We would like to invite rising dermatology Chief Residents to join the Class of 2017 of The Chief Academy: Building a Foundation for Successful Chief Residents.
The meeting will commence on Friday evening, May 19th, 2017 and conclude Saturday evening, May 20th, 2017. It will be hosted by the University of Texas Health Science Center Division of Dermatology in San Antonio, TX at the Hotel Contessa in San Antonio on the Riverwalk.
There will be an icebreaker networking reception and a Keynote Opening Address on Leadership (attendance is highly encouraged) to kick off the event on Friday, May 19th from 6 to 8pm at Hotel Contessa in San Antonio on the Riverwalk. There will be a Guided Boat Tour of the Riverwalk starting at 8pm. The rest of the Chief Academy program will run all day on Saturday May 20th and will be followed by a Texas style farewell reception on Saturday evening.
This intensive workshop was designed by dermatology program directors, department Chairs, and former chief residents to be a comprehensive course in the elements of being an excellent Chief Resident. The skills and methods are taught in a discussion format allowing for an exchange of ideas with faculty and peers. It also provides an excellent forum for networking with other chief residents around the country.
Some of the topics covered at the meeting will include:
2. Administrative Skills
5. Pearls for the chief year and beyond
Over the past 9 years, we have received great feedback from graduates of The Chief Academy, program directors, and department Chairs that have all benefited from having well prepared Chief Residents who added value to their programs. Not only have graduates of The Chief Academy excelled as exceptional Chief Residents, some have returned to serve as faculty at The Chief Academy.
